Lee
Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his family with volunteering in the community. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They took care of him at their farm in Eufala. In football, he played with his three brothers for Oklahoma. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award as the best lineman in the country. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. The team also took home two national championships. In 1975, Selmon was awarded the third scholarship of his career and was recognized as a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Additionally, he started his career in the field of business. In 1988, while working as an account relations officer at First Florida Bank of Tampa He was a member of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of the most notable young men. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in 1975. In 1993, he became the assistant director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame through The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by in the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
